At the lower reach, near to the Shotley marshes, I discovered these old posts. Looking like they had been discarded many years ago, and standing in the cold estuary, made for a bleak environment.

The landscape empty, and the posts only company was clinging seaweed. With the clouds about to break, I focused in on three, keeping a separate row of posts in the background for a sense of scale.
