Lake Tekapo is one of New Zealand's largest; it has a stunning turquoise blue colour which is enriched by the distant mountains. The lake sits at the base of Mount Cook, near to the Southern Alps, and on an early morning I spotted this rolling cloud of smoke from a bush fire, tumbling over the water.

It is unlikely that this scene had been shot like this before.
